Christmas Lights: The Ultimate Way to Decorate Your Home

Face Engineering Exercises

Christmas lights; we have all seen them and most of us have used them before. When it comes to Christmas lights, we often associate those lights with Christmas trees.  While Christmas lights are most commonly used to decorate Christmas trees, did you know that they can also be used for much more?  If you are planning on decorating your home for Christmas this year, you are advised to examine what else Christmas lights can be used for. After a close examination, you will likely see that they can be used for a lot more than you may have originally thought. As previously mentioned, when it comes to Christmas lights, we often associate Christmas lights with Christmas trees. This is because a large number of individuals decorate their Christmas trees with Christmas lights.  What is nice about using Christmas lights on a Christmas tree is that the lights come in a number of different sizes and styles.  It is possible to purchase Christmas lights with small light bulbs, as well as large ones.  Traditional Christmas lights come white in color or with a combination of all different colors.  In recent years, the popularity of different colored lights has skyrocketed.  You can now purchase single colored Christmas lights or lights with a specific color combination. These types of lights are ideal for those who are looking to theme their Christmas tree.Although many individuals choose to use Christmas lights for their Christmas tree, as stated above, there are other uses for them as well.  One of those uses is for decorating the outside of your home.
Online and in many retail stores across America, you can easily find Christmas lights that are designed for outside use, particular around a home. These type of lights are often referred to as icicle Christmas lights.  Icicle Christmas lights allow the lights to hang off the side of a house.  While it is possible to find multicolored outdoor Christmas lights, you will find that they are most commonly sold in the traditional white color. In addition to decorating the outside of the outside of your home with Christmas lights, you can also decorate the trees outside of your home.  A number of homeowners, each year, decorate the trees outside their home, often exactly like their indoor Christmas tress.  Many times, these trees are relatively small in size; therefore, the same types of Christmas lights that can be used on a regular tree can also, sometimes, be used on an outdoor tree.  Decorating the small trees in your yard is a great way to bring a touch of Christmas to your neighborhood. You can also use Christmas lights to decorate any one of the rooms that can be found inside your home.  There are many individuals who hang Christmas lights along the top of their walls. This is a great way to bring extra Christmas spirit into the room that your Christmas tree is in, as well as other rooms. In fact, you can even use Christmas lights to decorate one of your home’s bedrooms.  This idea is often loved by teenagers and other children; many enjoy the bright lights and colors. Decorating your home’s bedrooms is a great way to bring the Christmas spirit into a room that you may have otherwise not decorated. As nice as it is to decorate your home for Christmas, you may also want to decorate your office or your workspace. Unfortunately, not everyone celebrates Christmas.  This may pose a problem, when it comes to decorating your office workspace.  However, you can still, in many cases, use Christmas lights to decorate your office.  In most cases, you will find that it is the decorations that scream Christmas that cause the problems, not the lights themselves. Therefore, if you supervisors approve, you could easily hang Christmas lights around your office walls or along the sides of your work desk.
Isn’t it amazing all of the different ways that you can use Christmas lights to decorate your home or even your office? What is even more amazing is the above mentioned examples are just a few of the many ways that you can use Christmas lights to bring the holiday spirit into your home or office.

Christmas Tree Selection Guide

Before you select the perfect Christmas tree, consider a little planning to make room for your special guest. Choose the best area in your room for the tree, which would include a spot that is close to an electrical outlet. When you plug in your lights, you won’t want a cord running along your floor, which could cause someone to trip and fall. There are so many things to think about when choosing a tree to celebrate your holidays. Do I want real or artificial? Should I buy pre-lit or plain? A few knowledgeable tips will guide you in the right direction.Christmas Tree Tip #1: Artificial or Real
The first step is to decide whether you want a real or artificial tree. An artificial tree is beneficial to anyone who has allergies, but also if you just want to know that your tree will last for years. Artificial trees are nice because they do not have to be thrown out every year and they are always the same size and a perfect fit. On the other hand, there’s nothing like the smell of a real Christmas tree. With real trees, there is a greater risk of fire and also the need to keep them hydrated regularly. A real Christmas tree requires a lot of maintenance and, if you’re not up to it, an artificial may be the way to go.Christmas Tree Tip #2: Will It Fit?When selecting the perfect Christmas tree, choose one that will fit best in your home. Measure the spot for your tree before you go out shopping and keep those numbers close at hand. After you select an area in your home, measure the distance from your floor to the roof, along with the width of the space. Take a tape measure when you go to pick out your tree and make sure it will fit in the spot you chose.Christmas Tree Tip #3: Is It Healthy?
If you’re looking for a live tree, check the limbs to make sure they are nice and green. Also, look for any brown needles, which may be a sign of a tree that has not been freshly cut. A tree that is too dry could be a fire hazard, so watch out for any signs of needle loss or other symptoms of a damaged tree. You will want to choose one that looks healthy and full with beautiful branches, which will look festive when decorated. If you’re planning to load the tree onto your car, place a protective sheet down on the top before adding the tree. This will protect your car from scratches, or sap, on the way home. Make sure that you choose a strong rope to secure the tree to your car.
Christmas Tree Tip #4: Picking the Right ColorIf you are buying a real tree, they only come in one color. But, if you are buying an artificial tree, you have the alternate option of white. While white Christmas trees are not as traditional as the green, there is something to be said for their beauty. Consider a white tree with blue lights, blue ornaments and white garland. A white Christmas tree is classic and stunning, especially with the right combination of decorations.Christmas Tree Tip #5: Prelit or Plain? Another advantage to artificial trees is that they are available in pre-lit designs. This saves decorating time and ensures that the lights are always perfectly spaced. Additionally, if you don’t feel up to wrapping the lights around the tree yourself, a pre-lit tree allows you to enjoy the beauty of Christmas without the work of decorating.

All you have to do is decide upon a specific color theme and design theme, then stick to it.Let me explain…Do you want a particular color or colors? People, who especially love Christmas still rely on the old stand-bys. I will admit that red, green, white, gold and silver are still my favorites and probably always will be.Perhaps you’re in the mood for a wintery look. Simple. Just use white, blue, light shades of purple and you’re on your way. Along with candles you can add ornamental snowflakes, little snowmen, or strands of clear beads or snowy white garlands. If you have a color scheme in your home that you would like to play off of, then that can make it even simpler. You can always find candles, ribbons, napkins, beads, etc. online or at the store. Add touches of winter greenery or tiny Christmas trees to solidify the look.A Christmas wreath laid in the center of the table can be the beginning of a perfect centerpiece. It can be decorated with any object you may want to use as a theme. decorations.Continue to carry out your theme with your table napkins. Use two napkins of different colors for each place setting. Place one napkin on top of the other. You can roll them separately or roll them together, but the important thing is to tie them together. Tie them with a beautiful wired ribbon with the bell attached to the ribbon. Because wired ribbon can be shaped, it is easy to make the perfect size napkin holder. With your napkins inside your ribbon napkin holder, artfully arrange them and place them in the center of each plate. You now have bells on your napkin holders and bells on your table decorations. You can continue the theme with bells tied to the backs of chairs, hanging from the chandelier or attached to your stemware. The idea is to repeat your color or decoration. By using a theme, your Christmas table decorations will go from ho-hum to spectacular! Happy decorating.
If you have no theme in mind other than something special, then ribbons and bows can always come to the rescue. Inside the wreath, place a large candle or several tapers. The tapers can be the same height or differing heights. The choice is yours. Just make certain that the flames or hot wax do not come in contact with anything that could cause a fire. I was at a dinner party once where that happened. We certainly had a lively Christmas party that night!Hurricane lanterns placed in a row down the center of the table can take the place of a traditional centerpiece. Stemware filled with beads, nuts, berries, glass marbles, or any small festive objects can be used as well. You can use themed pieces to decorate in between. We’ll use Christmas bells as our example of a theme. Bells can be purchased in packages or they can be purchased already strung on wire. If they are on wire, they can be wrapped around the base of the hurricane lanterns, or you can attach them to ribbon and wrap the ribbon around the lanterns. Long strands of ribbon and beads can flow around the

Christmas Lights

Chocolate Recipe Guilt Free

It's only fitting, perhaps, that along with the magic of Santa Claus at
Christmas, holiday and Christmas lights also came about through the work of a
wizard - the Wizard of Menlo Park in New Jersey - as Thomas Edison was called.
It was Edison who first developed and demonstrated an incandescent electric
light bulb in 1879 that had commercial potential, an event that led the way for
the mass use of electricity and lights on Christmas tree as used today.
Before the discovery and use of electricity, candles were used to light
Christmas trees. That practice evolved into having glass covers with candles
inside them or metal lanterns that had small wicks. These were hung like
ornaments on Christmas trees. But even after Edison invented the incandescent
electric light bulb, it took many years before the large-scale manufacture of
Christmas tree lights were available commercially. It is said that the idea of Christmas lights came from one of Edison's assistants, Edward Johnson. In 1882, Johnson had Christmas tree bulbs made
specially for him. He displayed these electric bulbs on his Christmas tree at
his home on Fifth Avenue in New York City and it drew widespread attention. But
Christmas tree lights underwent many changes and improvement before General
Electric Co. introduced Christmas lights on a commercial scale. As an example,
among the earlier lights used on Christmas trees were night-lights that were
strung together to make light strings.
After the commercial introduction of
Christmas lights, sales and wide-scale use of them soared.Decorative mini-lights to be used for Christmas tree lighting were introduced in the 1970s. Since then, they have continued to be popular and are the dominant types of Christmas tree lights in the marketplace. Before that, icicle lights
were introduced as decoration for rooflines. Those decorative lights are the
most popular ones used for outdoor landscape lighting during the holidays.
Outdoor decorative lighting has evolved from Christmas tree lighting to also
become a popular way to use colorful lighting during the holidays to create
spectacular scenes.Another development in decorative lighting at Christmas time is the use of
candles. Real candles can be used, but electric candles became more popular and
safer because they present less threat of a fire hazard. Today that threat has
also decreased with the development of flameless battery candles. The battery
operation also makes their use more flexible because they can be placed in areas
where there aren't electrical outlets. Candles are usually displayed at several
windows of a house during the holidays. They produce an appealing look
especially if there are at least two sets of three windows each other where they
can be placed.Battery-operated candles can also be used during Christmas and the holidays for
other activities such as caroling, church services, school activities and for
other holiday arrangements around the home.As Christmas lights have become a mandatory feature of the holidays, they are continually being used in new ways that differ considerably from their early
beginnings. Outdoor lighting is now just as common as indoor lighting and that
is an area in which a change in the use of holiday lighting can be seen. Along
with icicle lights that illuminate rooflines and frames of houses, there are
also lights that are placed in shrubs. Holiday lighting also comes in the shape
of trees and other ornaments that can be placed on lawn to enhance the visual
appeal during the holidays. Many lawns are landscaped by lighting during Christmas and the holiday season with lighted figurines and various other items associated with the season. In
some communities, entire blocks of streets will have such elaborate holiday lawn
lighting that they attract passersby and even tourists - residents from
elsewhere - who are captivated by the spectacular visual displays of the
landscaped holiday lighting.

Christmas Decorations

Reverse Type 2 Diabetes. The Original Bestseller! Up To 90% Comms!

The various types of decoration used at Christmas are what gives a pretty
and sparkling look, and what puts some splendor into the season. The Christmas
tree with its myriad decorations is a standard and central decorative element of
Christmas. But the presence of the Christmas tree is also enhanced by
decorations such as wreaths, garlands, lights and figurines.Wreaths have a round or circular shape and are often used as the decorative piece on the front of a door. Variations of wreaths include berry,
grapevine, poinsettia and snow. The berry wreath will have individual and small
clusters of red berries, holly leaves with features like a gold tint, pine cones
and needle styles. A grapevine wreath has a vine-like look and may have pine
sprigs and clusters of red berry.Poinsettia wreaths showcase leaves that are red or different shades of red, and may have glittered fruits such as pear, apple and grape clusters throughout its
structure. Based on the size of a poinsettia wreath, it may also have large or
small pine cones, pine sprigs and holly leaves. And then there are snow wreaths
that have an icy look from pine cones that are sprinkled or covered with snow
and which are scattered throughout the wreath.Garlands are primarily used to decorate stairways, banisters and mantels. Garlands also have variations such as those that have a lighted Christmas tree
look with twinkling lights and tiny ornaments or tinsel to sparkle. Others such
as a mixed needle lighted garland would have branches of wide and thin pine
needle and Christmas lights. Christmas lights come in various forms and are also used in numerous ways to make homes and business places shine and sparkle during the holidays.
Christmas lights may be colored or plain, may or may not twinkle, and may be
single-stringed or have multiple strings to be hung to create a look like
icicles, which makes them very flexible in how they can be used.
To beautify houses during the Christmas season, Christmas lights may be strung around the roof line, in shrubs, placed at windows to form different patterns and placed on patios or porches to hang as icicles. Lighted candles are
also used in windows to make them visually appealing.Another type of lighted decoration seen during Christmas is in the form of figures that are placed on lawns. It's a matter of personal taste that decides how many figures to place on lawns, whether a lot or a few pieces or sometimes
just a single one may be attractive enough. Christmas trees are the standard decorative elements that are mandatory during the season. They may be real or artificial and can be placed inside or outside.
If placed outside, they should be lighted and also in a sufficiently lit but
subdued lighted area to maximize their visual beauty. Christmas trees are
wonderful to decorate because the entire family can participate in the
decorative process by placing the ornaments, baubles, lights and tinsel on the
tree. Some ornaments may even be personal, such as hand-made items or treasured
keepsake mementos. When these are placed on the tree every year, it can become a
tradition that is kept in the family and which creates a special memory as each
Christmas comes around. Poinsettia flowers, with their flaming red leaves, are also a staple
decoration at Christmas time. They can be placed wherever it's suitable to place
plants. Poinsettias are commonly used around offices in general and personal
work spaces during the Christmas season. If there's snow and a lucky 'White Christmas,' especially on
Christmas Day, then it's worth it to bundle up and with the children jump into
the snow to make a 'Frosty Snowman.' While a smiling snowman on a lawn is a
temporary decorative feature during Christmas, it's always a surprise and
delight because it means that children were out playing in the snow and having
fun.Given the many types, variations and ways in which Christmas decorations
can be used, everyone can have some pleasure and be creative in arranging some
form of Christmas decoration to add their own sparkle and twinkle to the
holidays.

Caring For and Planting a Balled in Burlap Christmas Tree

Kids Christmas Activities And Games

Tis the season when lots of people drag a real tree into their house and decorate it. Some people buy live trees that are balled in burlap instead of a cut tree. A live tree is a great idea, but many people make serious mistakes when it comes to handling a live tree, and they end up losing their money. The information in this article also pertains to any live tree you are planting, be it now during the winter, or during the summer.1. Before you even take the tree in the house, dig a hole for the tree where you expect to plant it after the holidays. Put the soil in a wheelbarrow and park it in the garage. You'll need loose soil to backfill the hole, and the ground might be frozen after the holidays.
2. Keep your live tree in the house for as short a time as is possible.
3. Keep the ball plenty moist while in the house, but not in a tub full of water. You don't want the ball to dry out completely, but by the same token it shouldn't be soggy all the time either. Just moist. You can wet it thoroughly, but then don't water again until the water is almost gone.
4. After Christmas move the tree outdoors as soon as possible and plant it immediately. If you were not able to dig the hole earlier, the ground is frozen, and the tree cannot be planted, leave it outside and pack bags of leaves or bales of straw around the ball. Find a way to heel it in in such a way that the amount of sun and wind the root ball receives is minimal.
5. Try and plant the tree immediately if you can. You do not want to store the tree on top of the ground during the winter if you can avoid it. Putting it in your garage is not a good idea either, it is likely to dry out in there. The absolute best place for the ball is in the ground, even if the ground has frozen after you dug the hole.  Just set the tree in the hole and backfill with loose soil. Make sure there are no air pockets around the ball. Backfill only with small particles of soil. If this cannot be done because the soil is frozen, just set the tree in the hole and backfill as soon as the weather permits.
6. Check the ball for nylon string. Cut and remove any nylon string. Sometimes the diggers wrap the string around the stem of the tree. If the string is a cotton type, like sisal twine, you can leave it on the ball but remove it from the stem. If the burlap is nylon it should be cut in many places or removed. If the ball is wrapped with a wire basket I recommend leaving it on. It will help to secure the tree and keep it from rocking back and forth with the wind. The roots will find their way through the wire and the burlap. Just cut the burlap where you can.
7. Do not plant the tree too deep. This is the number one reason for plants that do not survive. They should not be planted any deeper than they were in the nursery. The top of the ball should be one to two inches above the ground level. If you have heavy, wet, clay soil, you should plant it even higher and build a bed up around the ball. When you plant them too deep the plants literally suffocate.
8. Do not fertilize the tree at the time of planting. You can fertilize it in the spring, but only with an organic fertilizer. If you have compost available, mix some in while planting. Fertilizer can do more harm than it can good. I always recommend organic fertilizers. It's hard to make a mistake with organics. It's always a good idea to stake trees when you plant them. If the wind is constantly rocking them back and forth they will have a difficult time establishing new roots in their new home.

7+ Top Types of Real Christmas Trees

How To Improve Diabetic Kidney Disease: High Converting Offer

There are several types of real Christmas trees, all of which are a cheap choice over artificial. The most common types of Christmas trees are the six-foot Scotch pines, which fit nicely into the average home living room. One type of Christmas tree is the deodora cedar, which has blue-green short needles with pendulous needle tips. Another cedar, the Eastern red, has shiny dark green leaves and gives off a great scent, though it's sticky to the touch and will only last 2-3 weeks. As this tree dries out quickly it is best used in a humid climate. One of the most popular of Christmas trees in the southeast part of the U.S. is the Leland Cypress, with dark green or gray foliage. Its branches are feathery and its scent is pleasant but light. This tree is ideal in the home of allergen-troubled folks.
The Douglas fir is a popular type of Christmas tree, and easily flocked. It has a great fragrance and lives longer than a lot of other trees. Its leaves are either dark green or blue. Its sister fir, the Fraser, has needles that are flatter and dark green. It holds its needles well and gives off a pleasant aroma. For a more citrus aroma from your Christmas tree you should choose the grand fir, with dark green shiny needles. If you want a more durable tree that can hold your heavy ornaments the noble fir is a great choice.
It lives longer and healthier as a Christmas tree and makes an attractive, strong and durable wreath as well. Pine and spruce are too other commonly used types of Christmas trees. The pine has a great fragrance. The spruce however, dries quickly and its needles drop rapidly.

Lay a favorite photo of the kids on the inside over the cutout so that the photo shows through on the front of the card. Decorate the card with holiday stickers and crayon drawings from the kids and you have a winning card that anyone would treasure. Make this season special around your home by decorating the doors with special holiday wreaths.
Wreaths:Cereal WreathTake a white paper plate and have the kids paint with green non-toxic paint all around the outer edge of the plate (if no edge have them paint like an inch or two in). Once the plate is dry have them cut out the inner circle of the plate.Have on hand colored cereal in different shapes. Glue the cereal pieces to the green part of the plate. Now attach a big red bow to the bottom of the plate and you have a beautiful handmade cereal wreath to display on one of your doors.Card WreathTake a large piece of cardboard and draw a circle. Now cut out the circle and draw another circle in the middle so that you leave at least 6" all around the outside of the circle. This is your wreath. Now go get all those old Christmas cards you have stashed away in the attic from last year, and the year before, and the year before that. Have the kids go through this pile of old Christmas cards and pick out their favorites. Line them up so they encircle the wreath side by side. You can overlap the cards for a great affect. Now glue the card backs to the wreath where you want them until the entire wreath is covered with Christmas cards. Attach a holiday bow and you have a fantastic wreath for your home. What better way to remember what your child wants for Christmas then to make a Christmas Wish List Tablecloth? They are fun for the kids to make and very useful for Santa when it comes to making those special gifts appear.
Christmas Wish List Tablecloth:Purchase a white plastic tablecloth at the store and make sure you have plenty of non-toxic markers on hand. Place the cloth on the table or floor and give the kids the markers. 4 Fun And Easy To Make Homemade Christmas Decorations

Win Back Love: How To Get Your Ex Back

Homemade Christmas decorations are some of the most unique. They are also a lot of fun because you can enjoy them with your family. Below are 4 fun and easy to make homemade Christmas decorations:Popcorn Stringing If you like strung popcorn, it’s really simple to make. Start with a big bowl of popcorn (unbuttered, of course) and string it piece by piece using a standard sewing needle and thread. Make sure there’s plenty of popcorn because, if you’re stringing it for garland, you’re going to need a lot. Cranberry StringingMuch like the popcorn stringing method, many people used to string cranberries using a standard needle and thread. Again, make sure there’s plenty to go around if you’re going to use it as garland. Most importantly, and I know it’s tempting, don’t eat all the decorations. Save some for the Christmas tree.Paper ChainsOne of the greatest memories of decorating for Christmas, as a child, has to be the traditional paper chains. Using green and red construction paper, cut horizontal strips of each color. Fold them into a circle and seal with tape. Scotch tape is recommended and, if you use this when your child is young, the smell will always remind them of Christmas. It will likely become "Christmas tape" to them. Once you have a complete circle, take another strip in an alternating color and run it through the first circle. Next, fold it around and seal with tape. Complete this step until you have a big strand of paper garland in red and green. You and your child will enjoy doing this together and it will create wonderful memories for you both.Lighted WreathIf you love the look of a lighted wreath, but don’t quite have a budget for one of the more expensive ones, consider another option. You can purchase a plain green wreath very inexpensively. A small strand of lights can cost anywhere from $1.00 to $3.00. But, put them together and you have the look of a professionally lighted Christmas wreath. For this project, you could use either clear or multi-colored Christmas lights. Simply take the plain green wreath and wrap the lights around in a design similar to the stripes on a candy cane.
Once you’ve gone all the way around, tuck the last light into the green of the wreath. Make sure that you place it near an electric outlet because there won’t be a lot of extra cord. Now that you’re ready, plug it in and see your very own design. A red bow is a nice touch, but not necessary. As people drive by, they will see a beautifully lit wreath in your window and they will have no idea that you saved a few bucks by wrapping the lights yourself.

How to Find a Stunning Christmas Tree Decoration Idea

Model Railroad Guide And Print Out Buildings

Everyone is trying to find a great Christmas tree decoration idea! Homespun Christmas trees are moving to the side, it seems, for intricate themed trees with tree limbs full of carefully planned out decorations. Here are some great Christmas tree decoration ideas for your next holiday!
Decorate With AngelsA popular Christmas tree decoration idea is to decorate the tree with a realm of angels. The main theme of the angel tree is cherubs... kind of like that small angel at Valentine's Day! You will decorate the angel tree with only angels. You can choose angels of any shape, size, or texture. What pulls the angel tree together is that everything on your tree is an angel. You may want to add some strands of white sparkling lights for an added touch of "the ethereal heavens." Be sure to get angels of many assorted types. You might include homemade angels or angels that your kids made at school or church, as well.A Color-Themed TreeAnother spectacular Christmas tree decoration idea is to create your tree around an array of coordinating colors. For instance, your Christmas tree decoration theme might be to decorate your tree in USA patriotism, in red, white, and blue colors. If this is your theme, you will purchase or MAKE decorations, Christmas tree balls, lights, and garland that are all red, white, and blue. Other popular color theme ideas are a gold tree, blue tree, white tree, and even pink. Today you can even buy artificial trees that are in any chosen color that will blend into your idea. And the tree will blend into YOUR home, as a very special rendition of our Christmas holidays.Other Themed IdeasIf your Christmas tree decoration idea does not involve angels or a certain color, there are many other kinds of the Christmas tree decoration idea out there. You may wish to decorate your tree to represent your career. If you are a teacher, you might want Christmas tree decorations that are apples, chalkboards, and other teaching-related items. If you are a "gardener extraordinaire," you can hang tiny flowers and fruits and vegetables on the tree and decorate it with real garden tools!
The success to "building" a truly beautiful Christmas tree decoration idea is to think outside the traditional Christmas decoration boxes. For instance, if you want to decorate a tree to honor the fisherman in your life, you can decorate it with real pieces of tackle. Carefully choose colorful tackle and hang it from the tree with safe ornament hangers, not fishing hooks. You can also purchase decorations that depict tiny fishermen to add to the overall look.In this same vein, if there is an artist in your family, your unique tree could sport actual art tools such as paint brushes, tiny jars of ink (which will collect and throw the lights!), decorative craft items such as colored hemp twine or colored yarns, and small toys found in craft stores... tiny palettes, artist easels, and small figurines that you will decorate and "clothe" to look like art gallery participants or famous artists! The Christmas tree decoration idea list is truly endless. Use your imagination, and create a Christmas tree that you will be proud of! The sky is the limit when it comes to decorating the best Christmas tree ever! It will become a favorite family tradition, with the story telling of "how the tree came to be" as a central part of putting together your holiday.

Christmastime often means traveling to grandma's or a family party. You can make these trips less stressful when you have kids along by following some of these tips.Traveling with children often times requires that you become an expert storyteller, comedian, actor, or magician in order to keep peace and make the time pass quicker. Here are some age appropriate tips for you to use on your next holiday trip.Babies enjoy looking at bright objects that have interesting shapes, or are pop-up tops, and also mirrors and rattles are favorite amusers too.Toddlers will be kept busy with hand puppets, shape sorters of all kinds, board books, musical toys (that won't irritate you), and plastic containers that kid can easily open themselves and close. Keep play objects in them that are not too small (choking). A coloring book and chubby crayons are great entertainment.Preschoolers love to unwrap boxes that contain surprises for them to play with like magnetic numbers and letters on a metal tray, picture books, treats to eat, or mirrors and stuffed animals.Younger school-aged kids love to work with activity books that have stickers in them, felt boards, modeling clay, action figures or dolls and stuffed animals.Older kids can use travel-size board games or hand-held electronic games, magazines or books, or car games like finding certain state license plates or counting colored cars, or store signs. Kids have great imaginations and can sometimes amuse themselves on long car rides by playing these car games like "I-Spy" - spotting something along the landscape that is a certain color or shape.

Time for Christmas plans

Gluten Free Christmas Cookbook

Usually all Christmas plans are made up ahead, but if several weeks before the holiday you still don’t know where to go on your so desperately expected vacations, may be this article can help you to define your preferences. The fist thing you should remember is that usually by the beginning of December all the best places are already booked. So, prepare to spend more money, time and nerves, than, for example, in October. The fist thing to decide is the type of vacation you would like to have. At first – would you prefer winter of summer? Some can’t imagine their Christmas without snow; others deserve to escape from the frost. If you decide to warm up in the end of December, you are most likely to choose one of the sea resorts somewhere near equator. The most popular are Thailand, Maldives, Indonesia, India or Dominican Republic. All these countries have their own advantages, but if you like just to lay on the sun than choose Maldives. In other places there is so much to see, that your tan could be rather pale. You can also choose on the small islands in Polynesia – sun, ocean and palms – if that’s all you need from your holidays than it would be a perfect choice.
Those, who prefer the active way of life, can go in for diving or windsurfing. All these resorts offer the outstanding opportunities for these sports. If you have chosen not to be deprived of snow and winter then you still have a lot of possibilities and variants. You may go to a country with a lot of historical attractions and devote your time to excursions, shopping (Christmas sales are very attractive) and meet New Year on the main square surrounded by crowds of celebrating people from all over the world. Christmas tree as a symbol is as must. Cities ideal for this kind of holiday are Paris, New York, Prague. Frankly speaking, any big city in the Northern hemisphere can be suitable. You will return full of souvenirs and new impressions. If you like sport, particularly alpine skiing than the best choice is, without any doubt, Alps. There you can find comfort and nature, interesting entertainment programs and remoteness from the cities’ noise.  French, Swiss or Austrian Alps - all perfectly match. If you live in the United States and don’t like to fly across the ocean, you can spend you vacations on one of the Colorado mountain resorts. We have examined a lot of variants, but all of them need at least a week. What to do if you have just few days but still want to change your surroundings? In that case you can choose not so distant country or even travel within your country’s borders. Just choose the place where you have never been and your trip will full your with new emotions. Some people always spend their holidays in the same place. May be this year it’s time to change situation? If you don’t feel like it, just go where you are used to and feel comfortable and relaxed. No matter where you will be on vacations, the most important is the mood, the atmosphere and the people who are with you. If all these components are fine, your holiday will be a success!

Some True Blue Aussie Christmas Traditions

Top Christmas Product - Money Origami Christmas Videos

Christmas would have to be my favorite time of the year.I remember my white Christmases in Europe as a little girl. There was the smell of cinnamon, nutmeg and gingerbread biscuits, and my parents drinking eggnog as we decorated our tree.
Snow glistened outside and groups of children with their lanterns alight could be heard singing Christmas Carols as they moved from house to house in exchange for chocolates and sweets that residents would throw out their window.  That’s when the mad scramble began trying to look for sweets in several feet of snow.
I sometimes yearn for those magical, mystical years and reminisce especially when I listen to Bing Crosby’s “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”.Our way of compensating for the lack of cold weather in December is by having Christmas in July celebrations with all the trimmings including weather close to that of the northern hemisphere (well almost – anything north of the Tropic of Capricorn hasn’t been included, sorry). In Australia many of us still write cards with snow and ice scenes, people ice-skating on frozen lakes and pictures of cute reindeers.  Not only would Santa melt from the heat wearing his red winter woolies, his reindeer would die of heat exhaustion working in such sweltering heat!No reindeers and sleighs for us – we have ‘six white boomers’ (boomers: large kangaroos) thanks to a song by Rolf Harris from the ‘60’s.  I’ve seen our Santa pulling a surfboard wearing sunscreen, board shorts and hat, zipping through the southern skies.  Yes – he’s our man!
A far cry from the drunk Santa I remember riding in the back of a ute (ute: utility vehicle) in the country many years ago.  Last seen swigging on a long neck (long neck: tall bottle of beer) trying to articulate “ho ho ho and a Merry Christmas to all” as the ute slowly drove down each street in my neighborhood.Carols by Candlelight are a tradition ‘down under’ during the weeks leading up to Christmas at many venues around towns and cities of Australia.Christmas lunch here in this great southern land is a different experience.  As Christmas Day closes in the temperature continues to rise as does the humidity here in Brisbane.  You know Christmas is here when you start hearing the continuous shrill sounds of cicadas (large winged insect) on hot, cloudless days.
I know many still insist on cooking the turkey, other roasts as well as roast vegetables and gravy in the stifling heat (I did until recently), as well as fruitcake and custard.  Not everyone has air conditioning here so a cool breeze is often top of the wish list.

So what is a traditional Christmas lunch down this way?1. Prawns (prawn: shrimp) for the barbecue – on ice and with lemon wedges;
2. Fresh Fish from the market – arrive very early (if you’ve never had this experience before you’ll know what I mean when you do);
3. Tossed green Salad, bowl of beetroot with onion, and some asparagus;
4. Snags (snags: sausages), lamb chops – lamb cutlets if you can afford it;
5. For ‘afters’ (afters: after lunch) Beach towel, togs, thongs, sunscreen, cricket bat and ball (thongs: cheap rubber open sandals, togs: bathing costume);
6. An esky full of beers (esky: receptacle to place all alcoholic drinks – on occasion you may get lucky and find room for other items but don’t get too excited);
7. A few bottles of drink coolers for the girls;
8. Wine for the more refined;
9. More beers for the esky; and
10. A laid back attitude.
With lunch done, we look forward to our the great tradition of spending Boxing Day watching the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, The Boxing Day Test cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), or by spending the day lazing at home or spending it down the beach.
Having been outside once today, I’m very aware of how hot and humid it is and apparently it’s not going to get cooler any time soon.  So as I sit here looking at the cloudless sky and writing this article, I am indeed “Dreaming of a white Christmas, if only in my dreams!”
Merry Christmas and safe holidays everyone from Brisbane Australia.

Missing Christmas Flight Mystery For Malta

Gtfyw

A flight from London to Malta on December 26 has set alarm bells ringing on the holiday island of Malta. The flight operator, well known and popular airline Ryanair, claims no flight was scheduled, while one newspaper said they had a photograph showing a departure board with 'cancelled' next to the flight number. The Malta tourist industry pushed for low cost airlines to be allowed to operate to the island in the hope of arresting the recent decline in visitor numbers, and agreement was reached with Ryanair, with the inaugural flight from Luton in November. With a projected 80,000 to 100,000 extra tourists a year, the arrival of new flights to Malta has been warmly welcomed and seen by many as the saviour of the holidays and hotel industry, with a knock on effect for the property for sale industry to overseas buyers. The exisiting carriers, including the national airline Air Malta, have responded with offers of their own, and the price of flying to Malta has come down significantly in the last few months. But what looks like a cancelled flight due to a lack of passengers has sounded alarm bells on the holiday island.'The Malta hotels and holiday industry was looking forward to the year ahead with a sense of optimism', comment local travel guide http://www.yourmalta.com, 'The extra tourists being brought in by Ryanair is a major boost for the island's economy. But if a flight has been cancelled just weeks after their service started we just have to hope that it's not a sign for the future, and projected arrival numbers haven't been wildly over estimated. Hopefully there wasn't a flight scheduled at all rather than being cancelled.'Holiday Season'There is a possibility', continue YourMalta, 'That the introduction of the low cost airlines flying to Malta will merely delay the long term decline of the island's tourist industry.
Unless money is spent on the infrastructure and improving the environment for the tourists generally there is a danger that a lot of visitors will be one-off. If there's a lesson to be learned in Malta that the government and her agencies have failed to grasp it is that sustainable tourism is built on repeat visitors. At the moment a lot of visitors from the UK see Malta as a one-off trip'.As well as Ryanair, it was hoped that easyJet would also start services to Malta, but the latest reports are that talks have failed to produce an agreement. But brighter news has come from the island's flag carrier Air Malta. As well as at one stage selling two tickets a minute in a recent promotion the airline is starting a new service from Liverpool in April. The property market will also be keeping a close eye on tourist numbers now that the new flights have been given the green light. If visitor numbers do drop in the medium term it could be good news for locals looking to buy their first property. There has been some discontent on the island about the rising prices of property in Malta, and with less overseas buyers the possibility of prices falling and more islanders being able to get on the property ladder could be welcome news, as today's tourist is often tomorrow's property buyer. But now that low cost airlines are offering flights to Malta, this could help the Malta hotels and holiday market as more people consider three and four day breaks instead of the traditional week or fortnight, boosting the overall number of visitors, especially if Air Malta and the low cost airlines bring the cost of Malta flights to levels seen for the Spanish islands.Malta has traditionally seen the majority of her visitors from the UK, but this could be changing to a more diverse mix in future years.Last year saw a record number of visitors from Italy, and increased enquiries have been received at estate agents across the island from Scandanvia, Holland, France and Belgium, helping to increase the demand for Malta properties.

How to Plan the Successful Holiday Travel

Why Not Fly Free

Nothing spoils the holidays faster than a miserable trip getting there, so taking the time to plan your trip just may be the very thing that keeps it happy. Here are some tips to planning your trip.
Save money by contacting a travel agent well in advance of your departure date. The lowest-priced fares, hotel rooms and rental car fees can be obtained by securing them far in advance of the holiday season.Pack light to save energy, time and money. You also should check with your particular airline as some will place special restrictions on carry-ons during the holiday season because of the higher demand for space.Save on airline space by shipping your gifts instead of taking them with you. Allow at least two to three weeks for your package to arrive at your destination because both Federal Express and UPS are busy during the holidays.Make sure that before you leave on your holiday trip, your home, plants, and pets are secure and well cared for. Pet sitters will often times care for the plants and home as well, so they are a good investment and will give you peace of mind.
Don't forget to have someone collect the mail and newspapers so that it won't look like no one is home at your house. You should have your lights set on timers so that they come on at different times. Check to be sure that you locked all windows and doors and turned off the oven and stove before leaving. Do NOT leave any message on your answering machine or voicemail that indicates you are leaving for a trip.Avoid peak travel days at the airport like the day before or the day after a holiday. Book your flight two days before a holiday. Try to book a non-stop flight if possible.
If you have an early flight, consider sleeping over at an airport hotel the night before and taking an airport shuttle right from the hotel to the airport the next day.If traveling by car always have the car serviced by a certified mechanic. Make sure they check the fluid levels, brakes, tire pressures, and any other car part that needs regular maintenance. Bring along jumper cables, extra fluids, maps, first aid kit, flashlights, blankets, water, snacks, flares, ice scraper, chains for the tires and also a cell phone.Traveling with kids by car or air means bringing snacks and something to keep them busy like games, toys or music. If they will be sleeping during the trip bring blankets and pillows.
Good planning is essential for a safe and happy holiday trip so take the time to plan.

Holiday Traveling Tips

Why Not Fly Free

You can't seem to avoid the holiday traveling if you have a large extended family. There are always get-togethers at Grandma's or holiday dinners at Uncle Ed's. Getting to these holiday functions requires smart traveling planning and knowing some good traveling tips can come in handy.
Flying:If you are flying you will need to be prepared for security rules. Time can be wasted if you are not prepared ahead of time for what you can and cannot take onboard the flight. Also, know what is allowed to be carried onboard with you. As you approach boarding sections you will need to take out laptops as you get near the scanner. Getting it out ahead of time will save time and aggravation as others will not want to wait as you fumble around your belongings trying to locate your laptop. It is important to pay attention as you come to the other side of the scanner, so that you pick up your laptop and not someone else's.Holiday traveling with gifts has some special precautions as well when it comes to the security gates. Do not spend the time or money wrapping your gifts in gaily colored wrap because you will have to unwrap them in front of the guards. To avoid hassle, either wait until you arrive at your destination to wrap them, or mail them separately to arrive at your destination. Mailing them separately could also save you money if they would have put you overweight on the baggage (have to pay a fee for that).TimeGive yourself plenty of extra time so that you arrive at the gate before you need to. This way if there are extra security checks you won't be late for your flight. Checking in always takes longer than you expect. A good rule is to be at the airport an hour before domestic flight times and 2 hours before international flight departure time. There is not much you can do about snowstorms and other weather delays but booking early in the day flights will give you time to arrange other options for coping with these delays like booking later flights or making other travel arrangements in order to fix the situation and still arrive at Christmas dinner on time.
Always check the status of your flight in advance of arriving at the airport. You can check the status of your flight on the Airline Website. You can usually sign up for automatic flight status notification right on the Website. You can be notified by text message on your cell phone or PDA.That Airport Website comes in handy when it comes to knowing where the nearest place to eat is at the airport and how close it is to your departure gate. Sometimes if you have a lengthly delay you might even find that your airport has a spa.Always know what the plan is for once you arrive at your destination. Is someone picking you up, is there transportation arranged ahead of time like a rental car? Make sure that you have a printout of your driving directions to the hotel or other destination so that you don't get lost once you get there.Car:Did you know that car travel is the most popular way to travel during the holidays? 83% of traveling during the holiday season is done by car.Long car rides especially can be challenging at anytime of year but put in a couple of excited youngsters and you may have some extra need for patience and organizational skill. Here are a few tips for making your holiday car travels run smooth.Involve the little ones in the planning stage so that they will look forward to seeing something that they helped to plan.Include some kid-friendly stops along the way so that everyone will have a chance to stretch their legs and have fun at the same time.Allow for extra travel time just in case there are traffic jams, or weather related road conditions that slow you down.
Limit your road time to just 6 to 8 hours of driving time per day and have two drivers in the vehicle so that you can switch every two hours. Switching will make long drives easier.
Never make a rest stop when children are sleeping. Driving during sleep times allows for you to make the most headway because you won't have to make any stops.Pack a cooler with snacks and wipes for cleaning up before and after eating. Place the cooler between kids in the back seat so that they feel like they have their own space. The top of the cooler makes a cool place to play with cars and trucks too.

Your preparation will depend on the age of the child (kids).
First, look at the length of the flight. Long air flights and young kids do not mix well. Especially toddlers have a difficult time sitting still for a long period of time. Make sure that in your preparation you consider taking along favorite toys, blankets, books, snacks. Toddlers and kids under six can be accompanied by an adult and walked up and down the aisle when the seatbelt signs are turned off.
Kids love to look out airplane portholes, which are located by the exits. Explain what they are seeing and where they are. Sometimes flight attendants will pass out little plastic flight wings and spend a few moments talking with kids about the plane.
Planning your trip and keeping the age of the child in mind is key to a successful family holiday trip.
